This is Philip. He's my #6 (of 7) kids.
He has high WOO, Positivity, Communication, Ideation and maybe even Significance or Self-Assurance.
Bottom line.....he's a fun kid.
HIS LEARNING STYLE
Philip doesn't like learning linearly. He likes learning randomly.
In fact, he likes a little information here, a little there, and you know what he does? He connects the dots.
He connects the dots himself. Something he learned from one of his educational videos, he connects to something he heard us explain to him, and he connects that with something he saw at the children's museum.
His topic of interest lately is Zoology. He likes to know about animals and what makes them similar to each other and what makes them different.
He was the one that taught me about Narwhals. I had no idea they existed!
With math, he doesn't like sitting down and doing worksheets, but if we play mental math games he enjoys that.
With high ideation, the inside of his brain is the canvas and he doesn't even need a piece of paper to write on it. It's written on the inside of his eye lids.
HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO YOU?
You might have a child or grandchild with high ideation. It just means their brains work differently. They gather information variably and as they do, they put the pieces together.
Combine Ideation with high Communication and you get a verbally, random learner. They talk about the connections they make with these ideas, which is how the information gets solidified in their brains.
They become experts in what they talk about and the connections between ideas that no one else seems to notice.
BOTTOM LINE
So if you have a Philip in your life or if YOU are the Philip in your life, just give yourself a break. Unless you have other "linear" strengths (Learner, Focus, Discipline, Restorative, Analytical, etc) it might so happen that you gather things randomly, you connect the dots, and your brain paints a picture of the thing that you learned.
And you might drive those linear thinkers crazy because you're able to think
Outside the Box
Outside the Page
Outside the Book
Outside the Lines
Embrace the outdoors, which is your brain, high Ideators.
